Just to keep you updated I started a new job as a CNA at Windsor Gardens Assisted Living last week. So far it is just part time and for the present I hope to keep it this way. This way I can continue to work on my writing and yet have some time being a care giver. I feel very blessed to be working here. Both the staff and residents are simply the best. I have already fallen in love with them all. I was tucking in one lady in her bed yesterday for a nap and she said I could be her mother. I thought that was so sweet.
It is a beautiful place to work at. I think the prettiest and nicest place I have seen. Each room is individually decorated with a garden theme. The above picture is of the dining room. The ceiling has huge skylights and make the dining room a magical place of light and airiness. One of the ladies room was rather small and a bit dark so Dori the owner had an artist paint a beautiful mural on the wall to make it look like a window opening up into a spring garden. Now the room looks like spring time even on a gray day in winter. I will ask if I can take a picture of it sometime.
Yesterday it was beautiful outside and six of the ladies sat outside on the patio enjoying the sunshine, flowers and bird song. It is the kind of place that lightens your heart and spirit even to work there. For the first 30 – 90 days I am on a trial basis working here which gives me time to grow into the job and see if it is a good fit. So far it seems to be. The drive is a bit crazy but it is helping me to get into freeway and city driving again which is a good thing.
I have also applied to do home care with Catholic Charities and waiting to be called back on that. Hopefully this week. I applied for both jobs about the same time and it was up and down with Windsor Gardens at first so I was pretty decided to just do individual home care. Now I don’t know. Will see after my interview at Catholic Charities.
I have not been working on the book at all. Nope. Guess I pushed and pushed and now have run out of steam. Trying to think of how to motivate myself to continue on. Probably the fact that I was looking for work and then started a new job took a lot of mental and spiritual energy out of me. Once I have settled down and know more what I am doing no doubt I will get back into it.
Should have sent this on Friday but didn’t. So here it is now. This week I am only working three shifts, (3-5 hours each) at Windsor Gardens so signed up to do a home study course for Nurse Delegation. This is one of four training programs I need to get certified. Have 120 days to get them all done but hopefully I can get through them in a month.
Will see what other life surprises come my way. I read once that every six months our lives change in a major way. We think nothing ever happens but if we take a look back over the past six months we see that yep, pretty big things happened. Somebody new comes into our life or leaves, jobs change, living situations change, relationships change, we change. Take a look at your last six months and let me know if you see that happening to you as well. I think it does for us all. I think it shows that God is working in our lives more than we realize.
