If you read my last post on my driving school lesson you are probably aware that Patty is still in basic behavior training. I decided after the car episode I had should not delay with her further education.
The next thing on the agenda was getting her into a health and exercise program.
Unfortunately Patty is rather resistant to such a thing so I thought we would start off small by getting her to go for an simple walk.
What I didn’t realize how difficult this was going to be.
We started off going down the highway to a favorite trail of Jon and mine. The whole way down I had to practically drag her each step of the way. She wanted to go at this stupid snail’s pace when I knew that wasn’t going to get us anywhere soon.
Not only that, she refused to separate herself from me for than a few feet. She was practically a dead weight all the way.
I could hardly smell the smells that needed to be smelled. And we’re talking major Dog Zone area here. You can imagine what kind of agony that was!
Just when I was thinking it was a lost cause, she lightened up a bit when we got off the highway and down the trail.
Not a lot but some.
I was planning on taking her for a good long walk but this kid is so out of shape she was all for turning back almost immediately. Geesh!
Of course the way back is all up hill.
By this time I decided pulling 100 plus pounds up a steep highway was not in my best interests so I just sort of gave up and she lightened up and we made it back home easy peasy.
I’m hoping I can get her to go again soon, but I heard her complaining to Jon this morning that she was sore all over from our walk.
What a wimp.
